Pakistani authorities are increasing scrutiny at international airports due to a rise in beggars posing as tourists to travel to Middle Eastern countries. Over the past two and a half years, around 44,000 passengers were deported on suspicion. 90% of arrested beggars abroad are of Pakistani origin. Authorities are urging Middle Eastern and Gulf countries to tighten visa systems, while the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) targets human traffickers and cooperates with foreign countries to repatriate wanted criminals.
