Australia's federal government has unveiled a new National Science Statement and National Science and Research Priorities, prioritizing Indigenous knowledge systems. Replacing the 2015 framework, the new policy aims to incorporate Indigenous knowledge in emerging technologies, including digital and data systems, while protecting cultural and intellectual property. The National Science Priorities consist of five aims for the next decade, including transitioning to a net-zero future, supporting healthy communities, protecting and restoring the environment, and building a secure and resilient nation. The revamped statement aims to prepare Australia for future pandemics, climate change adaptation, and technological advancements like AI and automation.
