Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has withdrawn a plea deal reached with 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and two other alleged accomplices. The Pentagon has not commented on the reasons for the decision or whether a new plea deal will be negotiated. The 9/11 defendants had agreed to plead guilty in 2008, but the deal was subsequently overridden by the Defense Secretary.
