The International Monetary Fund (IMF) reported Sri Lanka's economic recovery continues with real GDP posting three consecutive quarters of expansion. The growth accelerated to 5.3% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024. The IMF has advised Sri Lanka to increase its fiscal revenue to maintain macroeconomic stability and restore debt sustainability, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to achieve the country's debt sustainability objective of a 2.3% primary balance of GDP.
