Indonesia bans DuckDuckGo due to pornography/gambling concerns, aligning with strict online content rules.
Indonesia has banned privacy-focused search engine DuckDuckGo over concerns it could facilitate access to pornography and gambling websites, both illegal in the country. This decision aligns with Indonesia's existing strict rules on online content, which have led to the blocking of other platforms such as Reddit and Vimeo. Despite being illegal, government data showed that 3 million Indonesians gambled online last year, spending an estimated $20 billion.
