BHP Group and Lundin Mining Corp have formed a joint venture to acquire copper miner Filo Corp, granting BHP a 50% stake in Filo, which owns the Filo del Sol mine in Chile, and a 50% stake in Lundin's Josemaria operation in Argentina. The deal values Filo Corp at C$33.00 per share and will see BHP pay a total of $2.1 billion in cash. The joint venture aims to develop an emerging copper district with significant potential, leveraging the advanced stage of engineering and permitting at the Josemaria project.
