Ladysmith's Trevor Short won the 2019 Great International World Championship Bathtub Race in Nanaimo Harbour, completing the course in 1 hour, 38 minutes, 13 seconds. The race, part of the Nanaimo Marine Festival, experienced rough seas, with over two dozen tubs failing to complete the course. Short, initially unaware of his lead, managed to overcome the challenging conditions and secure his second victory.
