Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced plans to move the headquarters of his companies, SpaceX and X, from California to Texas in response to a new California law prohibiting schools from disclosing students' gender identity. The law, signed by Governor Gavin Newsom, prevents schools from creating policies that could out trans students by informing their parents about a name change, pronoun change, or their identity. Musk called this law "the final straw" and cited it as one of the reasons for moving his companies' headquarters to Texas.
