Jammu & Kashmir High Court ruled that Talaq pronouncement alone doesn't dissolve a Muslim marriage and husbands can't avoid maintenance.

Jammu & Kashmir High Court ruled that a mere pronouncement of 'Talaq' three times by a husband does not end a Muslim marriage, and husbands cannot avoid maintenance obligations by simply pronouncing Talaq. Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul observed that for a Talaq pronouncement to be valid, additional acts are required, such as pronouncing Talaaq at specific intervals, presence of witnesses, and reconciliation efforts.
