1.4 million parents risk losing child benefits if they don't update HMRC on child's education after age 15.
1.4 million parents risk losing £1,331 a year in child benefits if they fail to inform HMRC about their child's education plans after age 15. A million letters will be sent out to remind parents to update HMRC before August, when child benefit payments usually end after a child's 16th birthday. Parents can continue to receive the benefit until their child turns 19, so long as they continue in education or training.
