EU Foreign Policy Chief, Josep Borrell, criticised Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for attending an Organization of Turkic States (OTS) summit in Azerbaijan without representing the European Union. The EU also rejected OTS attempts to legitimise the unrecognised Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by admitting it as an observer. Hungary has not been granted any mandate by the EU Council to advance relations with the OTS.
