NASA awards $843m to SpaceX for ISS de-orbiting vehicle development.

NASA has awarded $843 million to SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, for building a vehicle to de-orbit the International Space Station (ISS) when its operational lifespan ends in a few years. The ISS, launched in 1998, is operated by space agencies from the US, Europe, Japan, Canada, and Russia, with plans for operation until 2030. SpaceX will construct the vehicle, while NASA will oversee the mission.
