A Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van then struck the Jeep, causing it to become disabled as well. Four motorcyclists collided with the Jeep and van, resulting in fires. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and cleanup operation, with two southbound lanes expected to reopen around 9:30 a.m. No military personnel were among the victims.
