98 Indian pilgrims died during this year's Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The total number of deaths of Indians during Haj in the previous year was 187. This year, 1,75,000 Indian pilgrims visited Mecca for Haj, and deaths occurred due to natural causes, chronic illnesses, and old age. Six deaths occurred on the day of Arafat, and four were accident-related.
