New ATRI research reveals strategies to increase women truck drivers in the industry by addressing six key challenges: industry image, training school completion, truck parking shortages, restroom access, gender harassment, and discrimination. The research highlights that carriers with women-specific recruiting and retention initiatives have a higher percentage of female drivers (8.1%) than those without (5%). Women are drawn to trucking for income potential and pay parity, but concerns about social media usage and safety are challenges.
