2023 Yukon wildfire season expected to be normal due to damp ground, snowpack, and less dry vegetation.

Yukon is expecting a normal wildfire season this year after experiencing hundreds of fires in 2023. Officials attribute this to damp ground and a significant snowpack, which contribute to a more "normal" season with around 100 fires, mainly in remote wilderness areas. The grass and trees in the northern and southern parts of Yukon are not as dry as they have been, which also helps in forecasting a less dramatic fire season.
