The FDA has approved two new blood-sugar monitoring devices for use without a prescription, potentially making continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) available to millions of Americans. These devices, already used by millions of diabetics, provide real-time glucose level data to help users better manage their blood sugar. Recently, Cindy Bekkedam, a dietitian, experienced a low blood sugar alert at night, which prompted her to eat a granola bar.
