Legal advocates seek court records unsealing and continued public access in a class action lawsuit against the Bureau of Prisons over sexual abuse in a closed California prison.
Legal advocates, Public Justice and ACLU of Northern California, request a judge to unseal court records and maintain public access to hearings in a class action lawsuit against the federal Bureau of Prisons over sexual abuse of incarcerated women at a now-closed California prison. The prison was suddenly closed in April and 600 women were transferred, despite attempts to reform the facility after an AP investigation exposed staff-on-inmate assaults. The groups filed a motion for increased transparency in the case, which is set for trial next June.
