5 km of the M18 motorway in County Clare, Ireland was closed after a car driving in the wrong direction collided with a central barrier. The male driver, possibly suffering a medical episode, was treated at the scene and taken to University Hospital Limerick in critical condition. The road remained closed for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to examine the scene.
