Google is testing AI-based anti-theft features for Android smartphones in Brazil, where phone theft is a growing issue. The features, which include remote locking, AI detection of theft movement, and automatic locking after long periods without internet access, will be available to Brazilian Android phone users from July. This follows a 16.6% increase in mobile phone thefts in Brazil in 2022, with nearly 1 million devices reported stolen.
