President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and his successor Prabowo Subianto will celebrate Indonesia's 79th Independence Day in Nusantara, the future capital city in East Kalimantan, while Vice President Ma'ruf Amin will lead the commemorations in Jakarta. The hybrid ceremony in Nusantara and Jakarta will be held on August 17, with state guests attending in Nusantara and returning after the ceremony.
