2 endangered titan arum (corpse) flowers, native to Sumatra, have bloomed at the Chicago Botanic Garden, attracting visitors. Native to rainforests, these plants take over a decade to bloom and emit a rotting flesh odor to attract carrion beetles and flesh flies. The Botanic Garden has 18 of these plants since 2003, collaborating with other facilities to share pollen and aid reproduction.
