50-year-old Amelia Sanjurjo, kidnapped and disappeared during Uruguay's dictatorship, received a proper burial in Montevideo after DNA identification.

50 years after her disappearance during Uruguay's dictatorship, Amelia Sanjurjo finally received a proper burial in Montevideo. Sanjurjo, who was seized by security forces, pregnant, and disappeared into the military's prison system, was exhumed from a military base in Uruguay a year ago and identified through DNA samples. The search for the remains of those kidnapped and killed during the dictatorship continues, with only 5 out of nearly 200 victims identified so far.
