The Electoral Commission has referred National's New Plymouth MP, David MacLeod, to the police for failing to disclose $178,394 in candidate donations. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon had previously stood MacLeod down from his select committee roles after discovering the discrepancy in his donation reporting. MacLeod claims it was a "genuine mistake" rather than an attempt to mislead.
