The tarmac and asphalt plant relocation application for Mqabba, Malta, has been withdrawn by the applicant, BIP Ltd, following public opposition, concerns regarding health and pre-existing pollution issues, and Prime Minister Robert Abela's announcement that the plans were to be scrapped. The proposed plant was located just 500 meters away from residential areas, triggering protests from local councils and political parties.
