Pakistan's ECC approves continuing gas supply to two Punjab fertiliser plants at Rs1,597/mmBtu until 30th September, reversing a decision to end subsidies.

Pakistan's Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved continuing gas supply to two Punjab-based fertiliser plants at Rs1,597 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) until 30th September. The committee reversed an earlier decision to end subsidies on gas supply, with the financial impact of Rs15-17bn estimated to be passed on to domestic gas consumers. The move aims to secure a stable supply of urea fertiliser for the kharif season.
