Local authorities in Ireland overspent on homeless services by €35m last year, primarily due to increased spending on emergency accommodation in B&Bs, especially in Dublin. Dublin City Council spent over €20m on hotels and B&Bs, while Cork City Council spent around €2.6m more than estimated on B&Bs. Across the country, total expenditure on homeless services was €35,320,196 higher than initial estimates.
