US Coast Guard approves SWITCH Maritime's hydrogen-fueled ferry Sea Change for commercial service, marking the first hydrogen-powered vessel in the US. The 75-passenger catamaran will operate in a six-month pilot service by San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority, with a range of 300 nautical miles and speeds up to 15 knots. SWITCH aims to expand the technology for larger and faster ferries in the US and internationally.
