New Zealand's Associate Health Minister David Seymour announced that cold and flu medicines containing pseudoephedrine are now available for over-the-counter purchase at pharmacies. A consultation with a pharmacist is required, and safeguards remain in place to prevent misuse. Pseudoephedrine was banned from over-the-counter sales in 2011 due to its use in making methamphetamine but is now back on shelves with new safety measures.
