Water quality in Tasmania's Macquarie Harbour has shown improvement, according to data from the Tasmanian Environment Protection Authority. However, environmentalists continue to blame salmon farming for the previous decline in oxygen levels, which is thought to be affecting the endangered Maugean skate species. Federal Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek is reviewing salmon farming in the harbour, with the issue set to remain a contentious one.
