The Panamanian lawyer was awaiting sentencing in a money-laundering trial when he died. Fonseca's firm was implicated in the 2016 leak of 11 million financial documents, revealing offshore accounts used to hide wealth by the world's richest people. Fonseca was among over two-dozen associates accused of facilitating this wealth concealment.
