Jesuit priest Father Greg Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries, a gang intervention and rehabilitation program, is among 19 recipients to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Homeboy Industries is considered the largest of its kind in the U.S., offering training and job skills, case management, tattoo removal, mental health and legal services to those formerly involved in gangs or incarcerated. The program operates nationwide.
