3 individuals, Shabir Ahmad Hajam, Azad Ahmad Khan, and Waseem Ahmad Shah, were arrested in Kupwara district, J&K on 23 April for drug trafficking under the 1988 Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. They were sent to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. Police aim to make Kupwara a drug-free district.
