New Zealand agencies warn of rising online child exploitation as reports increase. Between 2022 and 2023, NZ authorities received nearly 5000 additional referrals from America's National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children's (NCMEC) Cyber Tipline. These include instances of sextortion, and child sexual abuse being posted online and sent via private messages. New interactive videos have been launched to highlight the dangers and educate young people on staying safe online.
