91-year-old Olga Fikotova-Connolly, a Czechoslovakian discus thrower who won Olympic gold in Melbourne in 1956, has died. After falling in love with an American hammer thrower, she was banned from representing her country and competed for the US in the next four Olympics, carrying the American flag at the 1972 opening ceremony. Fikotova-Connolly initially won a silver medal in basketball before switching to discus.
