2 schoolgirls, aged 6 and 11, were wounded in a knife attack by an assailant near their school in eastern France. Authorities later arrested the attacker, who did not appear to have any known links to radicals and was unknown to security services. The French Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, announced measures to crack down on teenage violence in and around schools, following recent attacks on schoolchildren by their peers.
