WHO and experts agree on a new definition for airborne diseases.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and over 500 experts have agreed on a new definition for diseases that spread through the air, following the confusion and delays during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. The WHO's technical document concludes that the term "through the air" can be used for infectious diseases where the main transmission method involves pathogens traveling through the air or being suspended in it. This new definition aims to help prevent airborne transmission of diseases, both for existing illnesses like measles and for future pandemic threats.
