Florida Governor Ron DeSantis plans to sign a bill, HB 1285, that will limit book challenges from individuals without children in a school district to one per month, and require school districts to discontinue a book if the school board denies a parent the right to read passages from it. The bill also simplifies the process for converting failing schools into charter schools. DeSantis highlighted the legislation as part of his efforts to further enhance Florida's education system.
