Vatican protests to France over French court ruling on nun's wrongful dismissal.
The Vatican has protested to France after a French court ruled that a former high-ranking Vatican official was liable for the wrongful dismissal of a nun from a religious order. The court determined that the nun, Sabine de la Valette, was unjustly forced to resign from her religious order, the Dominicans of the Holy Spirit, following a Vatican investigation. The Vatican claims it had no prior knowledge of the ruling and views it as a "grave violation" of the right to religious freedom.
