Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya claimed that the Samajwadi Party's friendship with notorious politicians Azam Khan, Atiq Ahmed, and Mukhtar Ansari led to the party's debacle in the state. He stated that "Akhilesh Yadav's three friends, Azam Khan, Atiq Ahmed, and Mukhtar Ansari, of whom two have gone and one is left, are the main reason behind the wipeout of the SP in the state."
