Federal legislation proposed by a North Carolina congressman aims to increase compensation rates for veterans with service-connected disabilities and military survivors under the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act, or COLA Act, could be implemented as early as Dec. 1, with adjustments parallel to the annual COLA adjustment to Social Security benefits.
