Archaeologists in Pompeii have unearthed a black-walled banqueting hall decorated with frescoes featuring scenes from Greek mythology. The exceptionally well-preserved frescoes depict the god Apollo attempting to seduce Trojan priestess Cassandra and Helen of Troy meeting Paris, an encounter that would lead to war. This grand hall, with its black walls to prevent smoke from oil lamps being seen, was used for feasting after sunset.
