Two US tribal nations have sued major social media companies, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube, for allegedly contributing to disproportionately high rates of suicide among Native American youth. The Spirit Lake Tribe and the Ft. Belknap Indian Community claim the platforms' addictive "profit-driven design choices" exacerbate mental health issues and historic teen suicide rates in Indian Country. In their lawsuit, they accuse the tech companies of deliberately misconduct.
