41-year-old Eric D. Johnson faces first-degree murder charges for the alleged beating death of his girlfriend, Cherish Lappin, 35, in St. Louis. Witnesses identified Johnson, who is homeless, as the aggressor, with one witness stating he asked for help caring for Lappin after beating her with his hands and a gun. Lappin was initially hospitalized on February 6 but died on February 14. Johnson has been jailed without bond.
