70-year-old John A. Garcia was killed in a violent assault on Portland's Eastbank Esplanade on March 22. The suspect, 29-year-old Abel Nistor, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Bystanders and first responders attempted to help Garcia, but he died at the scene. The police are still investigating the case and are encouraging anyone with information to contact Detectives Meghan Burkeen or Brian Sims.
