28-year-old driver Justin Hinson led NC State Highway Patrol on a high-speed chase on US 321, reaching speeds up to 115 mph, before the chase ended in a crash on Lincoln County's Gastonia Highway. Hinson lost control and crashed into trees, landing in a wooded embankment. Rescue crews had to use chainsaws to free him, and he was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.
