A new study predicts significant shifts in urban wildlife species across North America due to climate change. The study, published in the journal PLOS One, used data sets from 60 cities and eight different climate models to estimate how common each animal is in its current environment and how widely it's distributed. The results suggest that by the end of the century, cities like Ottawa and Edmonton could become hospitable for hundreds of new species while losing habitat for a couple dozen. The study also indicates that insects are most likely to benefit from these changes.
