67% of people in Ireland live in homes that are larger than needed, according to a new Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) report. The country has one of the highest rates of under-occupation in Europe, with only Malta and Cyprus having higher rates. This is due in part to the cultural preference for houses over apartments and the lack of downsizing options in Ireland.
