Alaska Senate approves House Bill 193 to boost rural schools' internet speeds up to 100mbps, four times the current limit. The $15m annual cost estimate aligns with the FCC's recommendation that modern broadband networks provide 100mbps. The bill fast-tracks eligible schools to apply for funding and allows them to choose providers like satellite services. Governor Mike Dunleavy plans to sign it.
