The UK's poorest areas donated a record £13.9bn to charity in 2023, a 9% increase from the previous year's total of £12.7bn. The average monthly donation increased by nearly 40% to reach £65. Some of the UK's poorest areas were the most generous, with Belfast West, where over a quarter of children live in poverty, giving an average of 2.2% of household income. In contrast, London's Kensington and Bayswater gave the second-highest amount of money to charity but at just 0.5% of household income, the lowest in the country. The Sheffield Hallam area was the most generous, with residents giving 3.2% of their household income.
